Cheshire
Cat is one of the most endearing characters in
“Alice in Wonderland”. He is
wise but very cheeky. He teaches Alice the ‘rules’
of Wonderland and gives her insight in how things work over
there. His owner is the Duchess.
The Cheshire Cat
has always a huge grin on his face and he can appear from
anywhere and disappear into thin air. Most extraordinary
thing, when he decides to vanish slowly, is that the last
thing that can be seen after him is his big grin.
This is what Alice
comments about the Cheshire Cat:
“I’ve
often seen a cat without a grin, but a grin without a cat!
It’s the most curious thing I ever saw in my life!”
Cheshire Cat - Through
the Ages
Cheshire Cat has been around for about
150 years now so there are several versions of him as far
as pictures go. Here are just 4 of them:
This picture of the Cheshire Cat is the original
drawing for Lewis Carroll’s book “Alice’s
Adventures in Wonderland” by Sir John Tenniel
in 1865.

This
endearing character with a huge grin is Disney’s
Cheshire Cat in the “Alice in Wonderland”
movie in 2010. His voice acting was done by Stephen
Fry.

A great new quote from the Disney
film 2010 by the Cheshire Cat:
“I
never get involved in politics.”
